I’ve been to Bear’s Lair dozens of times but, as someone with celiac disease and a dairy allergy, I’ve often left sick and eventually stopped eating here. I usually go to places like Taphouse that try to accommodate, but even there I’ve gotten sick lately. I stopped in for drinks and thought I might risk a snack. I told Ryan, the bartender, about my allergies, and he went out of his way to make sure I was safe. He spoke to the kitchen to have them use clean gloves and personally poured my drink by hand to avoid cross-contamination. I didn’t get sick — a huge win for me! On top of that, Ryan gave attentive, thoughtful service even though he was clearly busy. He kept an eye on our table, refilled drinks when needed, and made sure we felt taken care of without ever seeming rushed. I still know I can’t order a full meal here as a celiac, but Ryan made sure I could snack and enjoy drinks safely. As long as Ryan’s here, I’ll keep coming back. It was late at night due to our travel and the waiter was kind enough to still serve us a little past closing time. The food was fantastic and the prices were very reasonable. Would highly recommend.
